For the first time in a very long time, I've actually won something in a "give us your name and details for the chance of a prize" competition.

YAY ME!

Unfortunately what I've won is Tickets for two to both of the Rock2Wellington concerts (Sat 22 March and Sun 23 March - aka Easter Sat and Sun) and I'm unable to make it to Wellington for Easter (cause if I was I'd be going to Conjunction the SF&F Convention being held in Wellington that weekend.

SAD ME!

So if you're able and willing to go to these concerts (and thus would like these tickets) drop me a line

What Struan Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

Today loverly colonial_babe (now wife) and I head off on our honeymoon cruise.

8 days (well definitely 8 nights) cruising from Auckland to Port Vila, Vanuatu and back again. No work, no traffic, no worries and no computer (She worries how I'll cope, I've merely packed 8 books and they have a library on board)

I know I'm posting a lot less than I used to (and I didn't post much before) but hey. Life's pretty good right now, the only hassle really is money and we "HAVE A PLAN".

So I hope the new year begins extraordinarily well for all of you and you don't over indulge too grossly.

Life has been full on. Wedding, House, Job (in some order not neccessarily given above) have all been exciting in t least one way in the last couple of months...

However, my loverly (new-)wife, colonial_babe is again in a job situation that is driving her insane, also not helped by the fact of our fiscal situation means she feels she can't afford to much less money, plus also is not able to do the work she is both trained for (though not NZ recognised) and loves doing.

So this is a bit of a shout-out to see if anyone out there in loverly LJ-land, knows of a possible opening for a hardworking, detail-oriented admin person who would much rather be an early childhood teacher.

Position should be within an easy drive of Avondale (ie. not North Shore and definitely not any further south than Newmarket (if that) and should have reasonable hours (ie not 7am to 4pm)

Anyone, anyone, ...

But I've got the urge to update.
Life continues apace.

Work is full steam ahead at the moment with plenty to do and interesting times ahead as my boss's wife gives birth to their baby soon which will result in him having a couple of weeks of working from home.

Love is going grand with Colonial_babe and I finding it hard to get out of home and do other things than just be together. Part of this is due to serious financial tightness from the replacement car and upcoming house and (further away) wedding.

Home is cool, with the construction of the new house going along nicely with only a couple of mishaps. We're booked to move on the 12th of April (the Thursday after Easter) and thus packing is the order of the day. Though we have been enjoying the choosing of colours, curtains, tiles, carpets and the myriad of other things that go into making this house ours!

Seen a number of movies recently including "Smoking Aces" (good start, bad ending), "Hot Fuzz" (slow start, truly awesome) and "Ghost Rider" (Very good but Nick Cage was a bit campy in places)

Took some new photos of the house.

It's really coming along. The Flikr set now has interior shot (with little gib up though)

So I figured I should post more so people know what'sa happening in the NG world.

Xmas was good, much reading was done but Xmas day was punctuated by slight wierdness.

See I was up north with colonial_babe and her bro and his in-laws' family. So on Xmas day, after the present opening, half the group headed off to the Xmas service and the in-law dad proceeded to neuter the new (but not young) family dog. Now he is a vet and it was done outside (but on a kitchen table with a plastic drop-cloth) so I wasn't too worried, but it defintely made for a surreal Xmas day.

For various reason I won't be posting the plans online :)

But here is the general description of the House.

It's a two story duplex building and we have the north facing side (the sunny side).

Downstairs is an internal access double car garage (single door) with laundry alcove; bathroom with shower and toilet; and two bedrooms, one with a ranch-slider out to the yard which will have a low deck. The covered entranceway outside the front door leads right to the central stairs up.

Upstairs has two further (slightly smaller) bedrooms (one with an attic ladder); bathroom with bath, toilet and shower over bath; and a large (7.5m by 4ish m)) lounge and open plan kitchen. the lounge is over the garage and has a balcony running full length outside it. The lounge faces east, so morning sun into the lounge and afternoon sun on the yard and deck

The building is down a short right of way which serves three other houses but will have it's own guest parking spot as well.

I lost 1.7 kgs (down to 120.2, total loss 8.8)

And yes again we went up last week and recovered more than that this week.

So awesome going at the moment.

Well CB and I are just about to put an offer in on a house (that is actually sign the offer document).
Shock
We've looked at few places in the last couple of weekends and went back for a second look at a place on saturday (with entourage in tow). On second look it wasn't so good but we boogied on to a second place that was lots better.
So much better that we went back on Sunday (with a different entourage) for the requisite second look.
After some talking and consideration we contacted the Agent and wrote up the offer document last night but weren't going to sign it until our lawyer had a peek.
Which happened today and so signing is going to happen (any time now).
The fun thing is that there are at least two other offers in on the same place and the vendor wants a quick move (as he's leaving the country early October). The vendor is being shown the offers tonight so we may hear then or tomorrow how we're going. :)
Very exciting

(Edit) Our offer wasn't successful. The Vendor got his asking price!

I lost 1.5 kgs (down to 121.2, total loss 7.8)

And the astute amongst you will have noticed that my math might be wrong, and that I didn't post last week. Both of these can be explained by the fact that my weight went UP last week (by .5 kg) and thus the addition is correct :)

So now I'm over a quarter of the way to my goal weight.
neongraal: (Default)
Jenny Craig last night :)
I lost .7 kgs (down to 122.2, total loss 6.8)

And in other news, life goes on. Colonial_Babe has almost thrown off the throat and chest lurgie she's had for almost the last two weeks (though as she said, it's more likely that she's allergic to her current (only 8 more days) place of employment.

BTVS (my car) has been costing me big dineros this month, so I is a broke feeling lad.

Okay not using the ticker. It's stupid.

And I'm late :)

So, Jenny craig was a little bit bad this week. we had cravings and gave in to them.

I still lost .6 kgs (122.9, total loss 6.1)
neongraal: (Default)
So Jenny Craig last night, but I've been ill all day. And we went to a party saturday night and got horrid cravings on sunday,

but still, I've done quite well.

Silly ticker deleted (actual weight this week, 123.5, down 1.6, total loss 5.5)

After being thinking about it for a couple of days, last night I took a knee and asked the QUESTION.

And received a reply in the positive.

So as of late on the 27th of June, Debbie and I are now Engaged.

We're currently considering an April wedding.

I'm now an UNCLE! (as at 15th June)
Woot! Woot!
My niece (typed miece so I think that's her first nickname) was 5lb 14oz and small but that's not unusual as she's 10 days early.
