Looking for a good weekend
Dec. 3rd, 2005 12:29 amAnd not because the week's been bad, just tonight. And even then only because of one little action. By someone else.
A thing I have to keep reminding myself is that the fairest way to deal with people is if you want something, want to offer something or think someone might wanbt something is to ask. Even, or especially if you suspect they'll say no. Cause not asking takes the choice away from them, but asking whilst prepared to graciously accept their decision lets them have the oppotunity to surprise you. Whereas not asking only gives them the opportunity to be disappointed when they discover that you took the choice away from them.
I'm not saying thayt I always remember (or have the courage) but every now and then it happens to me and I am reminded about why I really prefer to ask and confirm. And whilst it is a fine line between trusting that you know what somone wants and assuming that you know, one should make them feel like a you care and the other doesn't.
