Geekness

I don't often post about geek wins. They should really come with the territory.

But over the course of yesterday I was pleasantly surprised with the ease with which I switched my two domains (a .com and a .geek.nz) from their current (slightly expensive and restrictive) registrar over to my current ISP's domain registration and Zone management system.

I was able to switch over the registrations, re-establish the (admittedly simple) Zone setups and configure the email and URL forwarding all without having to call telephone support once. In fact the only hassle of the entire operation was finding the help pages with the clear instructions on how to configure the zones for email and URL forwarding.

So Kudos to Orcon for an essentially painless process.

Tonights explosion of emotion come to you courtesy of the loverly [livejournal.com profile] wenchwoman and the current music.

Well it actually comeo from the continuation of the planning to move in with some friends. To save money.
As a outcome of this (not completely a result but hey that decision was definitely a catalyst) my brother has asked to buy me out of the house I half own (and am paying a mortgage on half of).
And thus bewteen the savings and the payrise and the buyout and the NOT HAVING TO SERVICE THE MORTGAGE, I find that I'm going to have a nice little deposit saved (~$40K) plus a much larger chunk of my income becomes disposable again. (I  was hoping for $500 a month and it now looks like maybe $2.5K A MONTH)!
