And for the Con
Mar. 31st, 2005 07:39 amAs the previous post probably shows, I've finished work today and finally caught up on LJ (though I've still got about a week of Web comics to catch up on).
I was going to do a day-by-day blow-by-blow (well not quite) account of the con, but I think I'll hit highlights.
So all in all a great con. Small but great.
The hotel room backed onto a service lane so at about 4 am the noise started and grew and it was hard to sleep in but that's really my only big niggle.
Onto Next year!
I was going to do a day-by-day blow-by-blow (well not quite) account of the con, but I think I'll hit highlights.
- Seeing so many of the friends I have that I generally only see at cons, esp
shenya and also running into other con goers and realising that we'd connected elsewhere in the real or cyber world.
- Driving, oh the driving. But that said it was good and not at all boring and much thanks to
alasatyr for sharing the trip (and most of the driving on the way back as he'd got a better nights sleep the night before)
- Punning, clapping, listening, singing, talking, sitting, drinking, flirting, hugging (and yes sleeping) for all of these things are somehow better at a con
- The Awesome fanvid for the con (I hope it goes up online, but it probably won't)
- Discovering how much I enjoy leading a conversation on a topic I am passionate about.
- Discovering how scary it can be when a hero(ish) of yours decides to stay on and sit in on one of your panels and then contributes no more or less than anyone else does.
- Filking till I dropped every night. Plus board gaming
- A Truly fun and enertaining LARP. Even if things didn't work out as planned, my character is still alive
- A small but interesting Masquerade. With an awesome Elder race member
- A little contraversy and argument, but with medium to large egos and confident people, that's not surprising
- OSC was a great guest available and "at" the con often outside of when he was scheduled. It was just a pity that the programme didn't list the other panels he'd be sitting in on
So all in all a great con. Small but great.
