Stormy Weather and A White Christmas
Dec. 19th, 2004 08:42 amI mean to post this last night but it got too cold and so I went to bed to keep warm. And now I've been reminded. See later for how. So much for it begin Spring/Summer. MEH!
Anyway, yesterday I awoke feeling like I was going to go shopping so I did. I made my list of people and even had a couple of ideas as to what to get each person. And set out. The expedition went well. On the first trip away from home, I visited three locations, bought what I thought was all the presents I needed and actually only forgot two. So I recuperated and then popped out and got those.
But anyway, towards the end of the first trip out it HAILED. It had been raining, hard, at points during the expedition but this was the real deal. The hailstones weren't large but still a few mm across. An almost white Christmas, in Auckland, in December!
And then later last night I was sitting at the computer, indulging in City of Heroes when I caught a funny sound and a little later a flash out of the corner of my eye.
Excellent, a Thunderstorm. I became more aware of the lightning and thunder until,, ..., .
When lightning lights up the entire room and the Boom is less than 1 second later, it was close. This morning I'm going to have a short drive around the neighbourhood and attempt to spot a strike point. Twas most excellent.
And then this morning it hailed again, larger stones than yesterday and I've jsut realised there's thunder again too.
