So after my last post I showered, dressed and headed out to the car to drive to work.
Clic..., ...,
Cli..., ...,
Cl...Bugger. 5 weeks of sitting doing nothing has lead to "car no go"-ness. Luckily, I was able to phone a friend (thanks
alasatyr) who lives just around the corner with a car so I got jumpstarted to get to work.
Work was, good. Stuff to do. Stuff done. Work ends.
Then I head back out to the car and figure out if the 10-15 minutes trip to work was enough to charge the battery to restart the car again levels.
NopeSo I call the loverly AA and then went into the pub I was outside to await the rescuers arrival. One Cider and one plate of chips later and they're pretty much on time. They jumpstart me loverly car and I head home via the other end of the north-western motorway, turning the 10-15 minute trip home into a 20-30 one to allow for more charging time.
Get home. Park. Stop Engine. Try restarting engine and it makes more hopeful noises but not quite sufficient ones.
I decide to head inside and let everything cool down before trying again. So I unlock the "security" grille door and then,
Whoops drop the keys under the deck.
BuggerI hunt to a long picky up thingy, (including asking the neighbours) but no such thingy is to be found so I call the friend I called earlier in the day and ask if he has a wire coathanger I could bend to use. He did and said he'd be right over. He and his flatmate (hi
poing_critter thusly turned up with said tool-makings and I proceeded to retrieve my keys from under the deck.
I get inside, natter for a bit and then after my rescuers leave head back out to the car, which does manage to start, so I leave it running, go and get a book and then run the car for another 10 minutes. Hopefully the car will start tomorrow morning. Or else I'm buying a new Battery.
