It's interesting how the little things don't really matter until they go away.

Auckland was hit by a rather heavy storm last night, high winds, driving rain and lightning. It was glorious, especially to be inside warm, fed and comfy while the wild raged outdoors, just being heard, not tamed just "out" and not in.

Amongst all this a few trees fell down. Pity these trees but they affected me in interesting ways.

There was a series of micro power outages as the grid rerouted when a tree fell across some power lines. Which of course lead to me having to reset the clock on many of the appliances and fully power down and reboot my home network (a couple of bits don't like being off for less then 5 seconds for some reason)

And finally I crawled into bed, slept well ish, and awoke to find my bedside alarm not gone off. It had lost about 3 minutes and I awoke at 5:57, when it's set to go off at 6 am. Interesting.

So I doze for a bit as is my habit then get up, turn on the shower, get ready, and then climb in.

BRRRRRRrrr. Cold shower. I have mains pressure gas hot water. So I remember to turn off the shower and then turn on the hot water (you can't turn the system on if there is flow through it) and reset the desired temperature. Turn on the shower again and away I go.

My weekend was great, and ran like this:

Some mates came round on Friday night and we board gamed and drank and shot the breeze.

Saturday morning C came round and we had an awesome conversation (actually as usual when we finally get around to talking) which I'm still processing.

Saturday afternoon/evening I did some shores and stuff and then hosted my parents for dinner (my kickass quiche) and "The Two Towers" which they hand't seen yet.

Sunday morning I brunched with A as she'd rung up worried about me during the week. This was great as we caught up and discussed our respective life problems. Thinking about it now, A is possibly the only person from high school I've kept in touch with (on and off) over the years.

Sunday afternoon I did more chores and some computer gaming and then for the evening swordladycat and I changed our intention to go and see "Return of the King" at Auckland's open air cinema as the weather was still to blustery and instead she came over and we watched a Stargate episode and then "The Mexican" on TV.

A good weekend, if only the week is as good.

My inner child is sixteen years old today

My inner child is sixteen years old!

Life's not fair! It's never been fair, but while
adults might just accept that, I know
something's gotta change. And it's gonna
change, just as soon as I become an adult and
get some power of my own.
